Richmond Scholar Awards
2025 marks the inaugural year of the Richmond Scholar Awards. These awards will be given annually to Scholars and faculty who demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the Scholars program. Nominations are made by the Richmond Scholars and the recipients are announced at the annual End of the Year Celebration.
Rising Scholar Award
The Rising Scholar Award recognizes an outstanding first- or second-year Scholar in good standing who exemplifies the core values and criteria of our program. This award honors a Scholar who has demonstrated strong academic achievement within their field of study, engaged leadership on or off campus, a clear sense of purpose, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. Additionally, the recipient actively engages with and contributes to the Scholars' program, embodying its mission and values in their actions and involvement.
Scholar of The Year
The Scholar of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding junior or senior Scholar in good standing who exemplifies the core values and criteria of our program. This award honors a Scholar who has demonstrated strong academic achievement within their field of study, engaged leadership on or off campus, a clear sense of purpose, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. The recipient actively engages with and contributes to the program, embodying its mission and values through their actions and involvement. Additionally, this student demonstrates a well-defined sense of purpose and a clear trajectory for their personal and professional goals beyond their studies at the University of Richmond.
Faculty Mentor Award
The Faculty Mentor Award recognizes an exceptional faculty member who has demonstrated a profound commitment to mentoring students and supporting their academic, professional, and personal growth. This award honors a faculty member who provides outstanding guidance and encouragement in their mentees' academic pursuits, fosters leadership, purpose, and confidence in students, and promotes a culture of diversity, inclusion, and community within their mentoring relationships. Additionally, the recipient actively engages with the program’s mission and values through their mentorship. They embody the highest standards of mentorship, leaving a lasting impact on the students they mentor and the broader campus community.
